I have decided to document the year of an executive assistant in a growing company in a thriving industry, including the office politics as well as the drama and the occasional vent session. I will not state the name of the company nor its locations. As well, when I go on a bitch session the names of the office staff that happen to piss me off at that time.
This family builds and leases well site units to all the rigging companies all over western Alberta. We also build camps and rest centers for bigger corporations. We do it all and employ all trades at all skill levels…. No this is not a recruiting add, just giving you the facts.
The reason behind this is to prove that there is a lot more favoritism in family runs companies to people who are not family.
My Great uncle started this business through his blood sweat and tears and more than likely a lot of cussing. He went on to become #1 in all of western Canada. He has a GM/CFO that runs his company so he can enjoy his time and relax. We will call my uncle Mr. Moneybags and the CFO/GM Pierre Poutine. One of Mr. Moneybag’s son also works here, we will call him M.J. (Moneybags Jr.) also works here. As does Mr. Moneybag’s nephew (we’ll call him Sani) and Niece (also my mother, we will call her Mama Cass-Minus the Ham Sandwich), and me the Great niece (We’ll call me Trinity). There is another 94 other employees working here at this time due to the off season.
It is December 21, 2011, and I would like to officially start this in 2012, and I think we can pull it off. There is a lot of drama and work to be done in here. I am going to re account the lovely issues that are plaguing my office. Well…. The company’s office, I just work in the cubical and hear it all. If you want to know what it is really like to be an executive assistant to many different departments as well as the go to girl for all the lead hands, I will gladly share it all right here.
The type casted sex-retary has nothing on what the real job entails. The real job is harder but so much more fun. Office life is full of Drama ups and downs, people leaving, people joining, office drama and fun days of doing as little as possible so Friday flies by and those after work cocktails taste so much better. I hope you enjoy seeing what its really like.
